The Sculpture
The Raj Manek “Above and Beyond” Award sculpture was sculpted by the very talented Boris Kramer.
Mr. Kramer heats and hand-forges metal, until it gives form to the expression of human relationships and energy. “When heated,” he says, “metal is extremely forgiving.” He sculpts it to explore the forces that unite and separate us from ourselves and from each other. These forces apply both to the business world and to the relationship between the RMMP’s mentor and protégé.
The dynamic and fluid lines of the sculpture awarded each year to the “Above and Beyond” Award recipient reflect the qualities of flexibility and change required in contemporary business. The density of its material simultaneously reflects characteristics of strength, trustworthiness and integrity under pressure.
Kramer’s influences include movements as diverse as rayism and impressionism. He states that for him, the forging process involves seeking form in a balance that supports its own meaning.
Kramer has shown his artwork in galleries throughout North America. His sculptures have found homes in numerous corporate and private collections, including those of Nana Mouskouri, Kenny Rogers and the late Victor Borge, Princess Margaret and Pierre Trudeau. His sculptures also grace galleries around the world.
